Unidentified gunmen have razed another police station in Akwa Ibom.

 

This is the second attack on a police station in Akwa Ibom within the past 48 hours.

During the attack, which occurred at the police station in Ikot Odon Otoro, Abak LGA, on Sunday, vehicles at the station were set ablaze.

While there were reports that two officers were killed, Odiko Macdon, Akwa Ibom police spokesman, said the matter was being investigated, and an official report would be made available later.

The incident comes hours after six persons — five officers and the wife of a policeman — were killed following an attack on the divisional headquarters in Ini LGA of Akwa Ibom state.

During the attack which took place on Saturday, vehicles were also set ablaze.

Meanwhile, the Sunday attack is the latest in a series of attacks on security facilities in the southern region of the country.

Over the weekend, at least five police station were attacked across the country, leading to the death of over 10 officers.

Two police stations and a security checkpoint were invaded by gunmen on Saturday in Rivers state, leading to the death of seven officers, while in Abia, the police station in Ubani area was attacked on Sunday.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, ENUGU STATE INEC OFFICE ON FIRE PHOTOS HERE Mr Mohammed Aliyu has ordered investigation into the fire outbreak at the Obollo-Afor office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the State.

Aliyu also directed the cordoning-off of the scene for the thorough probe to further ascertain the actual cause of the fire outbreak and damages incurred.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement on Friday, said that the fire incident happened at INEC office in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, on May 13 at about 9.40 p.m.

“The Command received a distress call at its Udenu Police Divisional Headquarters alleging that there was fire outbreak at the Obollo-Afor office of the INEC in Udenu council area.

“Police operatives attached to the Division immediately raced to the scene, while contacting Enugu State Fire Service office in the area to promptly put off the fire,’’ he said.

He further stated that the fire was eventually put off before it could spread to other offices around the building, through combined efforts of the fire service, the police and law-abiding citizens.

According to him, preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by power surge due to sudden power supply to the building before the incident occurred.

The Independent  BUHARI SON INLAW WANTED BY EFCC OVER 65$ MILLION FRAUD Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has declared Gimba Yau Kumo, a son-in-law of President Muhammadu Buhari, wanted over an alleged $65 million fraud.

Kumo, who got married to Fatima, one of the president’s daughters in 2016, was alleged to have perpetrated the crime alongside one Tarry Rufus and another Bola Ogunsola.

In a statement on Thursday, Azuka Ogugua, spokesperson of the anti-graft commission, asked anyone who had information on the whereabouts of the trio to report to the ICPC headquarters or the nearest police station.

“The persons whose pictures appear above, Mr. Tarry Rufus, Mr. Gimba Yau Kumo and Mr. Bola Ogunsola, are hereby declared WANTED by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in connection with issues bordering on misappropriation of National Housing Funds and diversion of the sum of Sixty Five Million dollars ($65,000,000),” the ICPC said.

“Anyone who has useful information on their whereabouts should report to ICPC Headquarters Abuja, any of the ICPC State Offices or the nearest police station.”

Kumo, who served as Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He hails from Gombe State.

The presidency is yet to react to the allegations levelled against him.
