THE PRESIDENCY INSIST SACKED SERVICE CHIEFS DID NOT FAIL

The Presidency has insisted that the service chiefs replaced by President Muhammadu Buhari did not fail in their service to the nation.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina stated that it was only time to inject fresh energy in the fight against terrorism and other security challenges confronting the country.

According to the presidential aide, President Buhari commended the outgoing service chiefs.

Naija News reports that President Buhari on Tuesday appointed new service chiefs for the nation after he sacked the previous ones.

This was confirmed on Tuesday in a tweet from Femi Adesina in which he also quoted the president as appreciating the outgone service chiefs for their performance.

The President appointed Maj Gen LEO Irabor as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Maj Gen I Attahiru as Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Rear Admiral A Z Gambo as Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), and AVM I O Amao as Chief of Air Staff (CAS).

He said, “I speak to him almost daily; he is not a power monger. He is in Ghana for peacebuilding efforts at the ECOWAS summit. He is very focused on building peace on the African continent. He deserves a Nobel peace prize for what he has done.
While describing Jonathan as a peacebuilder, Omokri stated that the former president is the most qualified southerner for the election.

Asked specifically why he won’t consider re-contesting, Omokri said, “I am very close to him; Jonathan is a patriot. He has a consistent history of doing what is suitable for Nigeria, and he will do that.”

The presidency has NPA BOSS SUSPENDED BY THE PRESIDENCY DETAILS confirmed the suspension of the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman.

The suspension according to a statement on Thursday evening by presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He added that the suspension of Usman is based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Transportation under Rotimi Amaechi on the need to investigate the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
The President, therefore, directed Usman to step aside from her role pending the outcome of the investigations by the panel set up while Mr Mohammed Koko will be in acting capacity as the NPA boss.

The full statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recommendation of the Ministry of Transportation under Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for the setting up of an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to investigate the Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.”

“The President has also approved that the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman step aside while the investigation is carried out. Mr Mohammed Koko will act in that position.”
The panel is to be headed by the Director, Maritime Services of the Ministry while the Deputy Director, Legal of the same ministry will serve as Secretary.”

“Other members of the panel will be appointed by the Minister.”

Naija News reports Usman was only reappointed in January for a second term in office as the NPA boss.
Meanwhile, the parents of the 27 freed students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State have revealed why they visited renowned Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

Speaking with reporters on Thursday, the parents said they were his to thank him for the role played in securing their children from bandits.
